I've been a busy little daisy this week... After Thanksgiving, I knew I needed to get to work on some scrappy things for my scrappy fans. :-) So, here is what I've made...

1 Grandma theme chipboard album - - PERFECT gift for a mom, mother-in-law, or any Grandma who loves her Grandkids and is loved by them! (the colors are in memory of my mom who loved purple, blue, and green)

And I made 2 cute chore books. I was thinking the red white and black reminded me of diet Coke (which I love and can no longer drink because of a medication I take). So, one is in the colors of diet Coke and the other is in the colors of summer and flowers. Lots of gems and ribbons abound! :-)

I hope everyone is having a great start to this holiday season. I am still scraping up the funds to get my daughter to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. Every completed auction is going towards her trip - - she and her high school band have been working so hard. They have practiced at all hours of the day and night, learning their music, keeping up with their other classes. I am so proud of her! She'll be spending her 16th birthday at the Holiday Bowl!

It's a cloudy day here in Arizona and I've been sleepy all day. I'm loving this weather - - it's such a nice change from the HOT HOT HOT. :-)

Digital Scrapbooking Day! New Free Fall Templates and Cute Chore Extras!

As promised, I'm updating my scrappy blog with scrappy goodies of both the paper and digi variety. Did you know it's International Digital Scrapbooking Day? Well, it is! :-) YAY! I started digi-scrapping when I had a tiny infant and no energy to get all of my scrappy goodies out of the closet but still had a desire to do something creative. Plus, I love the process of design layout.

Wednesday... Whew! Half-way through the week! YAY!

I have been working hard on getting more chore books made. I've had a few requests for 2 books at one time, but that is really tough when I'm chasing my 2 year old around. So, I set aside the tear bears and worked on chore books since I've been home from vacation (which had some fun moments but left me even more exhausted than I was!).

These books will be going up for auction unless I get a buyer before-hand... Take a look:

These are the same papers I made my girls' chore books in at the beginning of the summer. I am in love with the purple, green, and blue palette. This would be great for a teen or an adult.

I used a lot of gems and bling for this red, white, and black book. I was inspired by the high contrast of the color scheme. Again, I think it would be great for a teen or an adult. It looks really sharp!

And, I haven't made a digi layout template in a long time, but I've been in the mood, so I openined up PSE and went to work. I hope you like it. :-) Oops, I just looked at the preview and it doesn't show an outline around the layout. It is a 12 x 12 with a white background. I said it's been a long time since I've done this! LOL

Too Cute to Spook

I know you're probably like me and have a whole hard drive full, not to mention those boxes of photos that are still sitting there, waiting to be scrapbooked. Or they're waiting to be labeled... Oh, I used to be "good". I would get my photos back and write the who, what, when, where, and why on the envelope. But that's when I scrapbooked regularly. Those were the good times, before the digital age...

Now my children's memories are on hard drives waiting to be printed.

Or they're in envelopes of haphazardly printed things when snapfish had a sale.

So, I made this cute little bear with an easy-enough title, "Too Cute to Spook". Everyone has a picture of their little cutie at Halloween that needs a title like that!! :-) (I know *I* have a dozen at least!)

Amazed and Confused

I have made it through November and I was a "winner" for NaNoWrimo, although my story is not yet finished. We're talking over 75K words and still not done! LOL But at the end of the month meant the end of focusing only on writing and back to doing all the things that require my attention this time of year.

One thing I do at this holiday season is bake. Oh yes, I bake a lot. But I haven't come up with a plan yet for how to get all the treats I want to make, made, while still maintaining some sanity. I have been feeling very anxious and irritable the last week or so - asthma is not helping - and so I just want to curl up and do nothing for a day or two.

I made 100 invitations for my church Relief Society "Progressive Dinner" using my Cricut to make the background pieces and the embellishment pieces, but when you make 100 items that are all the same, you have to sacrifice something: in this case it was sacrificing the "cute" factor. They do not look how I envisioned them, but that is just the way it is.

I am in the process of scanning photos and negatives that I received a couple of weeks ago from my Aunt Kathy. The pictures are scanned, but now it's time to go through the negatives. I am pleased to have negatives of my parents' wedding photos... That is a real blessing! However, I need to work with my scanner to find the right settings to get the depth in the black and white negatives.

So, I hope to get a layout or two done in this Christmas season. I have a plan to work on some photos tonight with my daughters about past Christmases. My 9 year old loves to create with paper and glue, so that is what we'll do for family night. Not that we ever really HAVE "Family Home Evening" like we're supposed to, but occasionally we'll do something together. It's hard when I'm flying solo on the church-y stuff.

Yes, I did mention I am a cranky, irritable Grinch of a Mama right now. ;-)

Back to scanning negatives. I hope to find some treasures amid the celluloid!

p.s. As to the confused. I am confused by some of the things I see posted on various websites as far as layouts go. I do not understand using so much "bling" and so many thick textured flowers and sprays. If it's for a 3-D project, I get it. But for something that's going into a page protector, it makes no sense at all! I guess there is a reason I'm not up for being published anymore! LOL

Amazed by Creativity

I went online today with the hope of getting some card sketches at Pagemaps because I need to get on top of the crafts that I am going to donate to the Fall Festival for my daughter's school. I am simply in awe of the creativity of scrappers and card makers and paper crafters out there. It makes me miss those days of creating pretty things SO MUCH!

I am proud to say that I did make something recently. It's not especially intricate or publish-worthy, but it felt good to stay up late one night this week and WORK. I bought a Cricut Expression over a month ago - what can I say, it's one of those splurges that make me feel happy - and I had the machine cut out the flourishes and the titles and it made my pages look so much more like I envision them in my mind. :)

Each section of the recipe book has some of my husband and my favorite recipes. This was part of a gift I gave to my beautiful cousin Ruby for her wedding. It was such a pleasure to take a gift that means something to me and Tony, as cooking is one of the things we really enjoy. Well, he enjoys the cooking, I enjoy baking. Anyway, I know how much I would have cherished a book like this given to me by my mom or aunt or a nice cousin (LOL). I made sure to save the SVG file for the recipe and flourish cuts as well as the recipes so that I can make something similar for my girls when the day comes that they are old enough to be out on their own and getting married.

We (my husband and children) went to Michigan over fall break and had a wonderful time. I have so many gorgeous photos that are just begging to be scrapbooked. First, I need to get the donations for the Fall Festival done, then I'll start scrapping my family photos. I don't know what's "in style" as far as scrapbooking and I do not really plan to go out and buy new paper and baubles to scrap. I am going to use what I've got and do the best I can with it. I figure that my kids aren't going to know or care that I didn't use the latest Basic Grey papers and stuff to scrapbook. They're just going to be happy that I did make the pages and kept the memories. :)

I am also going to jump in and write with reckless abandon from November 1st through the 30th for National Novel Writing Month NaNoWriMo I hope that I will be able to get my own creativity in gear and write, craft, and bake my way through the holidays.

I am so grateful for the blessings I have in my life. Scrapbooking, writing, cooking, and genealogy research are all ways that I show my family how much I love them - and how much I love God and His Son, Jesus Christ. I hope to leave my family a legacy of faith and of feeling cared for.

I think I just dangled a participle. LOL

I wish you a Happy Halloween, and hope that you will find something creative to be amazed by this week.

Been a long time! I'm ready to get scrapping!

Wow, it has been a long time since I've blogged here and even longer since I've done any scrapbooking - paper or digital.

I am about to begin working on a "baby book" for my baby boy, who is now 18 months old and looking less and less like a baby and more and more like a little boy. He is a joy to me and I want to remember all of these days that we have together before my mind has completely turned to mush!

The other day I went to Michael's and bought a few photo boxes with the hope - and plan - to organize my boxes and boxes of photos into some kind of chronological order. I received photos from my parents' house that other people took -- most are those my Grandpa had printed from holiday parties and such that he gave prints to my mom and then my dad. Sometimes it really is a guessing game to figure out which year things are from.

I used to be sooooo good about writing the date on the back of the pictures when I received them back from the developer. Now, I have to go through and decide which photos I want printed and start a weekly regiment of ordering photos of my VAST collection of digital pics. I'm never going to get them scrapped if I don't get them printed. I have so much STUFF in my son's bedroom closet that is just sitting there, not being used, when inside my soul is a scrapbooker ready to scrap again.

If you have ideas about what the best place to get pics printed is, let me know. I plan on making a trip to Costco to get pics developed, but I am thinking the .99 shipping of Winkflash may get me addicted to them. Not going to Costco, not being enticed to pick up "a few other things" while I'm picking up pictures would be a very good thing! ;-)

I have to confess, I have been scouting eBay for a Cricut Expression die-cutting machine. I don't want to spend so much money, but with my carpal tunnel, and my need for speed to scrap, I see the machine as being a big time saver for making cute scrapbook pages. You can also use it for cutting vinyl and I am always salivating over the cute home decor using vinyl lettering. There is a big stretched canvas painting in my front room that I have wanted to repurpose for YEARS. Some acrylic paint and vinyl lettering could turn it into the art piece I really want. I foresee a travel or genealogy theme to it -- Families are Forever, that sort of thing. It's huge - 3.5 ft by 5 feet, or maybe its a 4 x 5 feet. It's in need of fixing! ;-)

So, you may wonder what got me back to scrapping mode.
1) My son sleeps through the night, takes a good nap, and is a sweet little toddler. This means I am more likely to feel like doing SOMETHING instead of sleep.
2) I got "stuck" with doing crafts for my daughter's school fall festival (I usually bake things for the country store). I started making hair flowers and greeting cards and now I'm longing to break out my cardstock and Hermafix and get to work!
3) My family history is of utmost importance to me and I desperately want to save the memories of my parents for my children. Dominic needs to be able to open up books and see his Grammie and Papa, to read about the fun (and not so fun) things we did, to know that even if they are not here to hold him and cuddle him now, they loved me, they loved their family, they worked hard and had faith. The same for my grandparents and generations further back. If I don't keep the history, who will?

Well, my little one is grouchy right now, so I better go back to taking care of him. I can't wait for nap time to get some creative time in! :)

Free Template Tuesday #1

Alright, we're off to the start of a new year, a new decade! Wow! I look back on where I was 10 years ago and it does not seem possible that so much time has passed. Tony and I were engaged and getting preparations made for our wedding. We did not have Hannah or Dominic. Things change so quickly, whether we're ready for it or not!

My life changed dramatically in 2009. I had a baby in March, my dad passed away in June, my husband had gastric bypass surgery in July, and we just have to keep on going whether we're ready for the changes or not. I am looking forward to good things in 2010, but honestly I'm a little scared for the possibilities, too! After losing my parents in successive years, I'm a little nervous!

But I have so many blessings and I am grateful for the good in my life. Because of my faith in God and His Son, I do not need to fear. I can be happy. And that is the biggest lesson I've learned from the last year(s)!

Getting sick for Christmas was not quite what I had in mind for the holidays! A week later and we're all trying to feel better. We did head up to Payson yesterday to take my DD#1's friend home and then we made a stop in the snow to play. It was Dominic's first time to see/feel/experience snow and Hannah's first time for REMEMBERING snow, so there were lots of pics taken. Yay! I love snow pics!

I will be back on Tuesday, January 5th with a new template. I intend to make Tuesdays my Free-Template Tuesday! My goal is to get myself scrapping a layout a week, to try to chronicle this new decade! :)

Old Fashioned Scrapbooks

Do you like the look of old fashioned scrapbooks? I remember when I was a girl finding a BIG scrapbook that my grandma had started for my mom of her school papers and things. Grandma was a scrapbooker by nature, I think, but life got in the way. Sound familiar? ;-)

I am in the process of scanning a scrapbook of my mom's infancy. Grandma only had my mom at the time, so I'm sure the thought of putting those sweet snapshots into albums was not so daunting of a task. She did pretty well at the beginning... But just like many of us, life again got in the way.

I do have a great legacy passed down to me from my Grandma, however. She made photo albums for each of her children with photos and genealogy, as well as snapshots through the years. I cherish this book -- which I had borrowed from my mom to scan a photo or two, only to discover my having the book saved it. My parents house caught fire and many of the books and photos in the front room were ruined. The book is safe! :) I must be sure to preserve the photos I have, write stories to go with them, and make copies. With digital scrapbooking and scanners, making copies is a LOT easier than when Grandma made these photo albums. Much, much easier.

Get Meaningful School Days and Free Layered Template

If you're like me, sometimes you need a push to get scrapping. For me, I often need a topic to scrap about. Scanning Mode

Life insists on Digital Scrapping

My life is up and down. A new baby makes it impossible to scrap with scissors and glue, so I'm digi scrapping and I love the results! :)

I hope to learn enough about digital scrapbooking to create my own papers and embellishments, but until then, I will use the vast collection of digi-scrap materials I've collected. I also will be posting links to the layered templates I make while scrapping.

I hope you are recording your memories, whether blogging or making darling scrapbooks, it's all important in sharing your family history.

Been Out of Commission

I just wanted to post a quick note... As you can see I've been out of commission as far as scrapping goes for MONTHS now. If you check my myspace blog you'll see that it has been a rough 3 months or so and everything has taken a back-seat to medical drama... Blah.

I had even been asked to make paper piecings and had to turn down the job. I haven't had time to make dinner, let alone do anything crafty. It is hard! :(

So, that's my scrappy life right now... Out for the moment.

And I had such high hopes to get to scrapping when my kids started school last fall. Sigh...

So, it's genealogy and writing that get my moments of creativity. In the car, waiting in hospital rooms, and occasionally a trip to the library... But I miss paper. I miss glue. I miss photography and all that it entails.

I will come back to scrapping eventually. It's just going to take time. (and thankfully, photos and paper will wait for me!)

Scrapping with my eyes closed...

Well, right now I'm typing with my eyes closed, anyway! ;-) Staying up till 3am last night is catching up to me. Even listening to New Wave from the 80's as I type is not working... Sleep is overcoming me! Oh no!

Here is a sketch for the week, too... (I had trouble with photobucket this week, too... I have no idea what my problem with computers is right now! LOL)

This week I have 2 layouts I need to complete for scrapping challenges at ScrapLove and ScrapNCircle. I'm struggling to find time and inspiration for both. Today's my DD's birthday and so I've got a lot to do with that... as well as my usual scrap for hire and household duties. Can you believe my husband and children want to have (gasp!) three meals a day AND snacks thrown in? I know! Don't they know how to put a HotPocket into the microwave? LOL Anyone ever heard of cold cereal? Toast? But once in a while I *do* need to eat, too. I have noticed that on days that I eat more regularly, I lose weight. I have to keep my blood sugar stabilized.

I discovered BRUSHES!

Well, I suppose for the non-digitally scrapbooking challenged (and photoshopping experts) brushes are not a big revelation, but I finally found a tutorial online this morning and "figured it out". Gosh, where have I been?? LOL

So, I made this sketch to *hopefully* inspire you (and ME!) to scrap this week. I'll have to do some reverse printing on the computer to get nice flourishes as I'm all out of pre-made ones... But what good is an x-acto knife if you're afraid to use it, right?!?

Now that I've used an entire morning on the computer, it's time to get started on my day... Those pesky mountains of laundry are still there... and GROWING!

Scrappy Challenges

Challenges and contests keep me scrapping and creating when my everyday "life" is chaotic. I am both surprised and relieved that June is almost over! Six more weeks until the kids are back in school and I can get back into a "normal" routine for me which includes quiet time to create.

However, there are some fun challenges at Scrappers Anonymous that have pushed me to create, as well as having the opportunity to teach a mini-class at Church. Come and check out the challenges at SA...

BUT this morning I'm going to look through my Tracy White Photography for Scrapbooking book again before I head to the pool. I want to capture some great photos of SUMMER. It's definitely summer in Arizona.

Have you ever wanted to mail a layout, scrapbook paper, or other scrappy supply that you needed a nice box for? When I was at the Mesa Scrapbook Convention in April I picked up the FANTASTIC USPS Priority mailer that is 15 x 15 -- perfect for mailing completed layouts, scrapbooking supplies, etc. Well, since then I've looked everywhere trying to get MORE...

This is a site you can add your name to petition the USPS to carry this Priority mailer in your local post office. Currently you can only get them at the CK Conventions! It's definitely WORTH taking a couple of minutes to add your name to the list!

Summer Has Begun

Once I get my camera and computer talking it will make life easier. I cannot find the USB cable... And the laptop is now... well, it doesn't live in this room where the scanner and other equipment is. I do not pretend to understand! LOL

I have been running around all week from one activity to the next, not getting much scrapping done for myself. I missed participating in a challenge at SA that I really wanted to do - the 4 by the 4th - and I'll tell you why... LIFE. Can you believe that life got in the way of my scrapping?!? LOL

Between choir concerts, weddings, a birthday party, and Easter activities, this week has been BUSY BUSY BUSY!! Wednesday Paper Piecing Update 3/28

Well, I have been a paper piecer today... ;-) I have listed two brand new paper piecings, relisted a paper piecing that did not sell yesterday -- though I know it was on a few people's "watch" list :-S -- and I added some "improvements" to another paper piecing to relist it today... PLUS I helped to sort and package Design Team donations for http://www.ScrappersAnonymous.com (If you haven't visited there, COME BY! Chat it up!) AND I started working on cleaning up this scrappy room! WOW!
BUSY day...

And yes, I did put a few loads of laundry through the washer and dryer, though they have yet to be folded and/or put away! ;-) Maybe tomorrow... LOL Hannah went to school today, but tonight she is looking pale and sick again. I hope my baby girl is feeling better... Time to get her some meds and put her to bed!

Springy Sprangy Sprung

That just seemed like a good title for the day... Spring-y, Sprang-y, SPRUNG!

I'm done with my layout challenges and it's not midnight, so I thought I'd write a quick scrappy update on me. I'm struggling with getting my scrapping groove on. Oh, I've been creating things, but it's so hit or miss with whether I really like the final product or not. Thus it is with the scrapbook artist, right? ;-)

I think tomorrow is a day for helping to package design team boxes... I cannot WAIT! To touch all of those new scrappy goodies and then to have the opportunity to dive into those crafty delights... YUM! It's like Christmas but better!! I know there are some fun new things to come... for instance (just to make everyone jealous...)

Now, who would not be envious about those??? The ampersandart sent the coolest kit (at least I think that's who it came from) with all kinds of art medium in it. I cannot wait to get my hands on it and start playing. I envision some 3-D pages and altered pieces in my future... Maybe the "art minor" that I have from college will actually get put to use? I want to let that energy OUT and express myself!!

Here are the layouts from the past couple of weeks from the contests I've been in. I'm really proud of Sizzle. Of course CK didn't pick it up for the July 07 BH Sketch, but still it turned out along the lines of how I wanted it.

No CK for me

Well it's not any big surprise that I didn't get the ck heritage/family history thing. Why it should sting, I don't know. It just would have been nice to have a focus... It's hard to see the same names chosen over and over and over again. They are wonderful people and talented, I know. I just thought I would have a chance to do something special, something that would have value to me. This is the reason I do not bother with Hall of Fame or things of that nature any more. I cannot stay "hip" or ahead of the curve in regards to trends in scrapping.

I remind myself that I scrap for me these days, not for CK or to get published. I'm so afraid that there is going to be something dramatic to happen to me in the next month that I'm going to say to myself later "I'm so glad I didn't have another worry on top..." Have you ever had that impending feeling of doom?

I'm sorry if I'm sounding down... I should get to work on the layouts that are due for contests that are due. It's Spring Break here and let me tell you, it's no vacation for me. ;-) I'd like to get Spring Cleaning done but it seems as though the kids pull things out in the guise of cleaning and it becomes clutter, spreads out, and we're back in a huge pile again.

So, hopefully next week I'll be smiling and ready for a new scrappy adventure. Anyone have an instant "pick me up"? ;-)

Scrap Night on Hold

Woooohoooooo.... Where did February go? It's already March 8th and I'm supposed to have a scrapnight this Saturday. It's on hold till the 31st. Too many birthdays and parties and etc's coming up to fill up the weekend hours!! (and trying to throw in a mad dash to clean my scrap room and the house before Saturday night is just NOT going to happen...) So, postponed until the 31st of March. Sometimes, you just have to put things off, right?

I have been scrapping because of the contests -- still plugging away at those!! (Thank you Christi, or I'd never have made layouts in the past few weeks!) Here are some of my contest layouts...

There is a project at CK that I am hoping to be a part of. It has to do with Family History and if you know me, that is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ME!! I hope I am chosen to be involved. When I started working on my Grandma Starks's genealogy in 1999, I had 3 names and one location, Reyno, Arkansas. From there I have gone back so many generations and connected to people (both distant cousins that are alive and ancestors) that I never knew. I think that in some small way my "digging at my roots" is keeping my great-grandmother's history alive -- she died when my grandmother was only 5, and Grandma was the oldest of 3 children -- by inspiring my brother to name his daughter Lillie. No, he's never told me that, but... He named her with the same spelling as our great-grandmother, Lillie.

Anyway, I'm waxing nostalgic here..

I have 4 paper piecings up on eBay right now... One ends today. Hopefully it will sell -- another of the cute monograms. I'm enjoying making the monograms... They're fun. I'm thinking of doing them as custom pieces. What a Wednesday

Happy Wind's Day, Piglet. That was one of my favorite lines from the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. To see that loveable bear of very little brain wish Piglet a Happy Wind's Day as the breeze went from gently swaying to lifting pooh Piglet high up into the air... I've watch the video far too many times as a Scrap-At-Home-Mom!

As far as scrapping goes I have not done a lot in the past week. I have half-finished paper piecings sitting on my table with the mulberry paper all fluffy and sweet, just waiting to have the limbs of the bears attached and given tags and titles. My pieces from last week did not sell which leaves me feeling a little deflated. It's hard to get energized to make more when I'm not sure what to make. Hmm... time to get my brain that feels like Pooh Bear's.. full of fluff and stuff... past the doubts and onto the working it out.

Christi urged me to enter some contests today so I did that. Back to the Lottery's slogan... You can't win, if you don't play!

I'm sure everyone goes through stages in their lives where they feel their minds clouded. I am in one of those stages right now. If I just knew what I wanted to do or make or scrap or accomplish, I could do it! Instead I feel like a bear full of very little brain, my head is foggy. I need something to focus on. So, perhaps a contest that does not vote me out but encourages me to accomplish a task each week will get me out of this fogginess and back into a creative zone.

And maybe if I cleaned this scrapping room I might feel more like scrapping, too!! ;-)

This Saturday night I'm having friends over for our monthly scrap night. Wish me luck for getting some of my OWN scrapping done, too. And not worrying about cleaning feverishly in the days beforehand. Are they really going to be inspecting the baseboards??

Two layouts, one day? WHAT??

Okay, so they're probably not the best most publishable layouts in the world, but I finished 2 layouts today! (and I folded a basket of laundry... I'll work on the other basket after I pick up kids from school) AND I did a paper piecing set yesterday, too. I've been unable to write the way that I like so I've used my mornings to try to create layouts...

AND Hannah can be on the computer while I scrap, so it's win-win for both of us. Now if she'd just stop saying "LOOK MOM!" at every game she's playing on Nick Jr. then it would be even more productive.

I want to do two more layouts this weekend. Wish me luck!

I'm just glad I got something accomplished scrapping wise...

Be Mine... and other Valetines

The week is half-way through and I have yet to get my "scrap" on... I worked on paper piecings this morning and early this afternoon instead of doing laundry, cleaning the house, or any of the other things I should have done! :-S

Right now I have two auctions up on eBay... One ends tomorrow and the other is brand new today. I've got five more bears here, not dressed or attached to any specific layout theme, that I will work on in the coming days. I see a baby title in the future, maybe one boy and one girl. Something a little different than these sweetheart bears.

Oh my goodness, I thought I could work on the computer for a few minutes but my kids are not letting me! :-S I am so ready for a retreat of some kind... Even just for a day! ARGH!

I Scrapped!! WOW!

Yesterday afternoon when there was an hour left before the kids got out of school, I told myself I had to get scrapping. So, I scanned some wedding photos, played with the Optikverve plug-ins, and printed photos out. There's a CK call for wedding layouts, so I thought I'd give myself a chance... I also did a couple of the Elsie F challenges with this... The b&w photo, the hand-made chipboard flourishes (two are chipboard, two are cardstock because I needed more and did not feel like cutting chipboard! ;-) ) and so I feel like I had a direction to go.

I do not feel confident with the simple title, LOVE, but I'm not very good at amazing titles.

I finished the layout this morning... Do you like my updated torn flowers? I think they turned out quite nicely... A little old school tear-art with some pretty papers. :)

Now to get at least three more layouts done in the next week or so. I finished my custom paper piecings on Friday, too, so I need to work on the paper piecing side of things as well. I want to get Tony something nice for our anniversary and so that's what I'm working towards...

Anyway... YAY I scrapped! :) Now it's time to make a grocery list and make dinner!

Bears and other ramblings...

Well, I had every intention of scrapping some pages for myself, but I did not get that far. I was checking out the Elsie F weekly challenge and decided I would make some chipboard for myself (week 4 challenge) ... So I spent an inordinate amount of time printing out some flourish dingbats onto cardstock, x-acto-ing them, tracing them onto chipboard, and then x-acto cutting them into the chipboard. Then I got out my beautiful Clearsnap Catseye inks and inked the heck out of the chipboard! They're red with pink highlights. Now, to get them onto a layout! ;-)

I have another auction that began this morning. I've been in such a creative zone this week! Using red, pink, and hearts is a natural thing for me... The latest bear I made is out of mulberry paper (my first experimenting with mulberry for bears... I haven't used this stuff in a million years it seems!) If you have a moment, check it out! :)

I'm also on a mission to get some of my own layouts done. I have a great idea for a picture of my grandparents kissing in the orange groves... Do you ever have a fantastic idea for a layout and you're afraid to even START on it for fear that it will not meet your expectations? That is how I feel about this layout...
So, that's when it's important to scrap SOMETHING... Get out an inspiring photo and just go scrap crazy... I also want to get layouts done for the wedding layout call at CK. I don't know if they're doing the call for an issue or a book... Time to get out my beautiful wedding photos and let those inspire me. It's hard to believe it's been 7 years already... Where has time gone?? When I was a kid the days lasted forever... Saturday was the WORST because there was nothing to break up the monotony. There were only so many hours of cartoons in the morning and then Dad would watch old black & white westerns. YUCK! Now, Saturdays are gone in a blink as we rush around, trying to get the housecleaning done, errands, grocery shopping, and maybe, if we're lucky, a meal thrown in there somewhere...
Okay, it's time for me to get started on my day. If I get my chores done early I can use my "creative time" while kids are at school to scrap! ;-)

For this contest, your entries must be a layout - no cards or altered projects this time.
Each person may submit up to two layouts for the contest.
Layouts can be any size, and can be one or two page layouts.

-Your entries need to have been created during this year - 2007 -

-Your layout must have chipboard products from TWO different manufacturers. If you make your own chipboard embellishments, then you may have one homemade piece and one from a manufacturer. (you can use as much chipboard as you like, this is the minimum)

-At least one of your chipboard embellishments must be altered. There are MANY ways to do this...paper, stickers, ink, stamps, paint, jewels, flowers, or brads are just some ideas. This is where we want you to get REALLY creative....let those juices flow and show us what you've got!

It's Friday... and it's December 1st. I was a very good girl and not only did I mail my Secret Santa gift today, but I also created and completed a new paper piecing which I put up on eBay. Paper Piecings... 11/.28

I have reverted back to what I know... It has been so long since I paper pieced and I discovered I kind of like it! Some scrappers make cards. I make paper piecings. Card makers send them to friends who appreciate them. I make paper piecings to sell on my paper piecing group and on eBay.

I have a stack of paper piecing plans for titles and the little creatures to go with them. There is something relaxing about working on a title and pieces for someone else. :)

Paper piecing is what afforded me Christmas in the past, trips to see friends, and scrap supplies. I hope it can get me through this very lean time when my babysitting job is getting more and more sparse!!

I am willing and able to take requests for specific titles, themes, and off-eBay sales.

I am so excited about a contest... The prize is WUBE paper... The theme is fathers and is using the sketch I created. How cool is that?? A sketch I drew is the sketch for a contest!!
There are only two entries so far... I hope more people enter it. The deadline is June 15th. I do not think a 2 page sketch is too hard to work with -- and with Father's Day coming up, a tribute page to Dad, Grandpa, or a page for my girls to share their feelings about their Dad would be a great way to show how much they love him for Father's Day...
